I was the "N" Division Quartermaster in the Navigation Division. I was born in Utica, New York on April 4, 1926. I enlisted in the Navy in Syracuse, New York; and went to Boot Camp at Sampson Naval Training Center, Sampson, New York. I underwent further training at Newport, Rhode Island; and Quartermaster Training Center at Gulfport, Mississippi; and Terminal Island Ships Pool, San Pedro, California.

I was assigned to the U.S.S. Nassau in December 1944 and served on the Nassau until June 1945. While onboard, I served in the Navigation Division as a Quartermaster. I was discharged from the San Diego Training Center in August 1945 and returned to Rome, New York.

 On returning to civilian life, I attended college at Mornsville Ag & Technical College. I married Sally Dorn, my present wife, in August 1948 in Rome, New York. We had three children and four grandchildren. One son was killed in 1968. David lives in Atlanta, GA., and Tommy lives in Rome, N.Y. with his wife and four children. We have one granddaughter who is a college student In her Junior year; a grandson who is still in high school and grand chidren who are a set of twins and are just entering Junior High School.
