Marshall Douglas Allsip

Marshall passed away on December 25, 1998. Information from the microfilm of the Nassau Log shows that he enlisted in the Navy on July 31, 1942, and came aboard the Nassau in February 1943. The microfilm did not show when he left the Nassau nor when he was discharged from the Navy.

Marshall's daughter enclosed the following quote from her father in her letter, "I served in the U.S. Navy with the best group of Americans that have ever been assembled in one group for a specific cause, and I am proud to have been a part of such a terrific force."

Marshall was married to Willie Belle Pennington on March 14, 1946. There were the proud parents of a boy and a girl, who gave them 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Marshall worked for Phillips Petroleum for 25 years before moving to Garland, Texas where he did electrical contract work for small businesses and was a school crossing guard. His wife passed away on January 8, 2001.
