I was born on November 25, 1921 at Pequat Lakes, Minnesota. I enlisted on July 23, 1942, went to Boot Camp at Great Lakes, followed by 4 months of Service School there.

I came aboard the Nassau on February 13, 1943, I think. I was in the "M" Division, Engine Room. My last rate was CMM. I was in the service for 3 years, 4 months and 20 days. I was discharged on December 12, 1945.

In 1949 I went to Guam for a year and helped build up the Island after the war. In 1951-1953 and 1955 I worked in Greenland. I was a commercial bricklayer by trade.

I married on December 19, 1959 and have 4 stepchildren and one son of my own. We have 13 grandchildren. My wife Audrey and I own a grocery store and a gift shop, which Audrey and I manage.
