I was born in Astoria, New York on February II, 1926. When I was in my third year of High School, I joined the Navy, on September II, 1943

I attended Boot Camp at Newport, Rhode Island; followed by AMM School at Norman, Oklahoma; and then on to Norfolk, Virginia for 21 more weeks of school. This was followed by some time spent at N.A.S. at Barbers Point, Oahu, Hawaii.

 I went aboard the U.S.S. Nassau (CVE-16) at Pearl Harbor in September 1945.  Onboard the Nassau I functioned as an Aviation Instrument Specialist, which included engine checks and maintenance of SB2C-5 Curtis Hell Divers reroute to Tsingtao, China.

 I was discharged from the Navy on April 24, 1946 at Lido Beach, New York. Upon my discharge, I joined the Navy Reserve for 2 years, taking cruises once a year and going to meetings every week.

 I married Sandy Sabella on September 24, 1955 and we have 2 sons and 2 grandchildren.

I retired in 1983, from the Naval Shipyard at Brooklyn, New York after 35 years.
