John Letinich

My service history aboard the U.S.S. Nassau is not much. I signed up for Navy duty upon graduation, in June 1944, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

I was called for duty on September 1944, and was shipped to San Diego for Boot Camp training.

Upon my completion of Boot Camp, I was assigned to the U.S.S. Nassau in December 1944. I was a member of the Flight Deck personnel.

I saw no action as the war was winding down.

While I was aboard the Nassau, it was mainly used to transport planes and supplies to the islands in the Pacific. After Japan surrendered, it was then used to transport troops back to the mainland, until the Nassau was docked in Bremerton, Washington to be decommissioned.

I left Bremerton for New Orleans, LA where I was discharged on June 25,1946.

I married Gloria in June 1955, in Sebastapol, California. We have 3 children and 4 grandchildren.
