I was born on May 22, 1926 in Sulpur Springs, Florida. I moved to Springfield, Ohio at age three. I remained in Springfield until age 18. I graduated from high school in 1944. I joined the Navy on May 17, 1944 and was sent to Great Lakes, Illinois for six weeks of Boot Camp.  I was shipped to San Francisco, from which I left on a troop ship, the Robert L. Howse, in August.

 I joined the U.S.S. Nassau in the Gilbert Islands. I was assigned to the "V-6" Division. I head the ranks of AS-SIC-S2C, AMM-3C and AMM 2C. I toured the Pacific, including Sing Tao, China.

After the war, the U.S.S. Nassau was sent to Bremerton, Washington and decommissioned. I returned to the U.S. Naval Personnel Separation Center in Great Lakes, Illinois and was discharged on May 28, 1946.

I was married to Virginia Hope McGuire on January 15, 1959. WE have two children: daughter, Mickey Lee Colvin; and son, Nathan Edward McGuire. We have two grandchildren, Adam Colvin and Jessica McGuire.

I was employed by Florida Cypress Gardens. I water skied, ran the ski shows for seven years, and worked in the ran the Photo Department for 25 years.
