Clyde Mott

I was born on April 17, 1923 in Medford, Oregon. I enlisted on December 9, 1942 at NRS in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I was sent to Boot Camp in San Diego, California. I don't remember when I went aboard the U.S.S. Nassau and was assigned to Gunnery. Life aboard the Nassau was like being  part of a "big family." I was discharged at the U.S. Naval Training Center at San Diego, California on October 3, 1945 after service 2 Years, 3 months and 5 days of foreign and sea duty.

I received the following ribbons: American Area, Asiatic-Pacific Area and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon Star. I received four Battle Stars: Gilbert Island Operation, Marshall Island Operation, Western Carolina Island Operation, and 3rd Fleet Support Operation.

I married Ada Nae Hickok Mott on April 22, 1944 at Bethany Chapel - Methodist Church in Enid, Oklahoma. We have one son, Dennis W. Mott who was born on August 31, 1946 and is retired Navy. We have two granddaughters - Carissa N. Mott and Ashley E. Mott. Our grandson, Douglas I. Mott is deceased.
