I was born in Wellfleet, Nebraska on July 16, 1918. I enlisted in the Navy in San Francisco, California on March 13, 1941. (It was Friday the 13th.) I attended Boot Camp in San Diego, California.

My first ship was the U.S.S. Lexington CV-2. I was aboard the U.S.S. Nassau from July 1942 until April 15, 1945. This was followed by service on the U.S.S. Harnul AD20.

On the Nassau I was in Division 2nd Fox, Gunnery. I don't remember anything outstanding, at this time.

I married Barbara Clurer in 1944, and obtained a dissolution on July 26, 1988. We have five children and nine grandchildren (with one on the way.)

Shirley Foot and I share our life together — traveling together and enjoying being with friends. (It will be 16 years.)
