Reunion 1996

The Tenth Reunion of the U.S.S. Nassau was held in San Jose, California on September 18-21, 1996 with 108 in attendance. The primary reason for choosing San Jose as a reunion site was that it enabled Ed Perovich, who is spending the rest of his life in a wheel chair, to attend. Ed also supports the Nassau Association in a financial way. The daughter of Robert dark, who is another shipmate consigned to a wheel chair, drove him from Arkansas so that he could attend, and this was the only reunion Robert was able to attend.

Our tours included a Tour of San Francisco, Golden Gate Park, and Fisherman's Wharf on September the 19th.

On September 20th, we had a Western Bar-B-Q at Roaring Camp Big Trees, south of Santa Clara, California.

On September 21st, we toured the City of San Jose, including The Winchester House.

Due to the unpatriotic downsizing of the military by the administration in Washington, at this time, we were unable to have a Navy band or a Navy Color Guard at the San Jose Reunion. The banquet program consisted of showing videos from past reunions.
