"The Little Princess"

"THE LITTLE PRINCESS" is a 365 page hardback book with 175 photos. It is a story of all the travels of the U.S.S. Nassau, CVE-16, Escort Carrier during World War II. It also includes the history of aircraft carriers, stories of action in the South Pacific during the four years of the war, serving under Admiral William "Bull" Halsey in the 3rd fleet, typhoons, battle stars, close calls in battle zones, daily life aboard the Nassau, poems written on the Nassau, navy slang, information of all ports of call for this carrier, names and address of all known shipmates, list of all known deceased shipmates, entertainment on board, religion at sea, news from the Nassau Narrator, liberty and leaves, reference books for further reading, end of war stories as told by many Nassau sailors, and many photos of plane crashes and daily life of the Nassau.

I am Wilbur A. Zink, who served on the Nassau as a yeoman in charge of the Air Department Office for two years. I kept a diary and hundreds of notes that are the basis for this large 8 1/2 x 11 book. I have authored two other books on different subjects but believe the story of the Nassau should be told and I have worked three years on the writing of this history. I have interviewed many of the Nassau men at reunions and made scores of phone calls to others. I, like all Nassau men, am proud of the Little Princess and her contribution to victory in World War II. As you read through this book you will find the Nassau was not only a lucky ship, she was a blessed ship. Many different times she had submarines trying to get in line to torpedo her but our Destroyer Escorts dropped depth charges to sink them of run them away. Yes, she was a blessed ship and we are all proud to have served aboard this grand old Carrier.

This book was a labor of love and only 500 Limited and Signed copies are being published. The price of the book is $35 plus $5.00 shipping and handling.
